Julie Phillips-Turner has over a decade of experience with marketing, communications and public relations, and specializes in working with associations and non-profits, health care organizations, and outdoor industries.

Julie has been involved with many aspects of marketing and communications, including promoting issue awareness campaigns within the media and on Capital Hill for Medicare reform and work health and safety programs; event planning and publicity for association annual conferences and non-profit fundraisers; management of publishing and creative direction for several association magazines, newsletters, annual reports, and brochures as well as electronic communications from e-mail marketing programs and newsletters to web sites.

Prior to establishing Phillips Turner Communications, Julie was Director of Communications for The American Association for Homecare, the Voluntary Protection Programs Participants Association, and Design Director for e-mail marketing agency Fishbowl.com.

A few of Phillips Turner Communications clients include the Professional Paddlesports Association, Hospice Cup, Inc., National Alliance for Eye and Vision Research, National Coalition for Assistive and Rehab Technology, American Society for Civil Engineers, National Association of Workforce Boards, Skills USA, Medallion Group Retirement Residences, and the Montgomery County Dept. of Public Works and Transportation.

Julie serves on the board of several organizations leading the public relations, communications and association industries. The organizations include serving as the 2007 Chair of the Independent Public Relations Alliance of Washington, DC metro area; Co-Chair of the Public Relations Society of America-National Capital Chapters Association and Non-Profit Committee; Public Relations Liaison for the Board of the Hospice Cup, Inc. which sponsors the annual Hospice Cup regatta in Annapolis, MD to raise funds for hospices located in the Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC areas; and as a member of the Communications Section Council of the American Society of Association Executives.

Julies efforts and leadership of the IPRA Pro Bono Committee were recognized by PRSA-NCC with a Thoth Certificate of Excellence Award for exceptional services provided to the Center for Child Protection and Family Support for developing their 2004 annual report.
